Living out the life of a Secular Discalced Carmelite

In this series, members of our Secular Carmelite community share their horariums—how they live out prayer and contemplation in the midst of family, work, and everyday life.

Discover how ordinary people walk an extraordinary path of intimacy with God through silence, Scripture, and the spirit of Carmel. Join our community as we learn from each other’s witness of prayer in action.

A horarium is a daily schedule of prayer and activity, especially in monastic or religious life (from the Latin hora = “hour”).

It organizes the day around the Liturgy of the Hours — the official set of prayers that sanctify the day at fixed times.

This site is dedicated to and under the protection of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
